A Few Transplant Facts

A typical organ transplant costs $125,000 to $500,000 or more.  Hospitals require that a patient show proof of ability to pay BEFORE being placed on a transplant waiting list. Typical insurance plans pay 80% of the ‘normal and customary’ expenses incurred for the procedure. That means the patient will likely be responsible for at least a $60,000 deductible for his $700,000 bone marrow transplant.
